John Madden To Be Honored on Thanksgiving With Special Logo, Helmets, and More

Published

on

Thanksgiving is finally here, and with it, comes a full three-game slate of NFL football. However, this year, things will be a bit different as the NFL has decided to honor the life and career of the legendary John Madden.

Madden passed away on December 28, 2021, and although he was instrumental to the NFL for a number of reasons, arguably his biggest contributions were to the league’s celebration of Thanksgiving.

When the legendary coach and broadcaster passed away, questions about how the NFL would honor him were top of mind. Today, the NFL has elected to pull out all of the stops, and Madden will be showcased in a number of ways.

“No one cared more or contributed more to our game than John Madden,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. “Honoring his memory and impact on the NFL is important, and Thanksgiving Day brings all of the elements significant to John to life – family, football, food, and fun.”

NFL To Honor John Madden on Thanksgiving

Madden will always be remembered as one of the winningest coaches in NFL history, accomplishing more in 10 years with the Raiders than many do in a lifetime. And even though he retired at the young age of 42, his contributions to the league continued after that.

Only a few years after retiring from coaching, Madden entered the broadcast booth and became the voice that was synonymous with football. He called 11 different Super Bowls and broadcasted for 28 consecutive years. But it was specifically during the NFL’s Thanksgiving celebrations that Madden gave us memories that have endured decades.

Whether it be the six-legged turducken or his hilarious banter with NFL legends like Emmitt Smith and Randy Moss, Madden championed this American holiday.

“He didn’t own Thanksgiving, but it was kind of damn close, right?” said Richard Zontz, a lead NFL producer for FOX Sports. “He just took the holiday and embraced it and sort of made it his own.”

So how will the NFL honor the legacy Madden created? Before the celebrations even begin and the first kickoff takes place, Madden will already be present thanks to the day officially being referred to as the “John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration.” This official title will be showcased across all three networks that are broadcasting today’s schedule – CBS, FOX, and NBC.

Additionally, when each game has come to a conclusion, the networks will choose the “Madden Player of the Game.” That player, who will be considered the MVP of their respective contests, will receive a $10,000 donation in their name to a youth or high school program of their choice via the NFL Foundation. The NFL has said that this act is to honor Madden’s passion for youth football.

Before each game, NFL fans will also hear a recording of Madden talking about Thanksgiving and what its connection means to the world of football.

Not only will the ceremonies around Thanksgiving sport Madden’s name, but a special logo has been created and will be presented on NFL fields and player helmets. This decal will be different from the one the Las Vegas Raiders have currently been wearing during the season.

Instead of just his initials, we will see the iconic image of Madden being carried off the field with his first in the air. This image was taken after the Raiders won Super Bowl XI over the Minnesota Vikings. It was one of eight playoff appearances that Madden led the Raiders to from 1969-78.

Best IDP Players To Start in Week 13

C.J. Mosley, LB, New York Jets

C.J. Mosley is the absolute definition of consistency among LBs. In his 11 games this year, he’s failed to hit nine or more tackles just twice. In four of his last five games off the bye, he’s been over 11 tackles.

MORE: Fantasy News Tracker

This week, the Jets get the run-centric Falcons and a fantastic opportunity for Mosley to rack up tackles. Lock him into lineups with supreme confidence.

Antoine Winfield Jr., S, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Despite not playing an ideal role for an IDP safety, Antoine Winfield Jr. continues to produce. His last two weeks have seen Winfield post a whopping 26 total tackles. As always, he’s got upside to turn the ball over, too, and the Panthers have been prone to that. With a high floor and a high ceiling, Winfield is an absolute must-start for managers this week.

Tyreek Hill Goes Viral for Tua Tagovailoa Love, Surprising Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Take

Published

on

By

Not only is Tyreek Hill one of the most dynamic and explosive players in the NFL, but those adjectives can be used to describe his personality as well.

Hill is unafraid to take to social media or a microphone to voice his opinion and to get off a few jokes at the expense of his former team. That is exactly what he did on Thursday morning as Hill went viral for his defense of his current Miami Dolphins quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, and for a lack of invites from his former quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

Tyreek Hill Defends Tua Tagovailoa

Bright and early Thursday morning, as he was watching television, assumedly getting ready for his day to start, Hill took to social media to defend his quarterback. While watching an episode of ESPN’s Get Up, Hill took offense to the way they were talking about Miami’s QB.

“I’m currently watching this guy’s talk on Get Up, Tua may be the most underrated QB in the league and it’s sad.”

Hill has been extremely supportive of Tua since he arrived in South Beach, and with Hill’s help, Tagovailoa is squarely in the MVP mix right now.

Despite that, Hill did not like the way the cast was talking about Tua and his play. Thus, he took to his social media account to make sure that anybody else watching knew where he stood on the matter.

‘I Was Hurt’ – Hill Jokes About Not Getting Same Treatment as Travis Kelce

Defending Tua wasn’t the only reason why Hill was going viral Thursday morning. Not much long after his Get Up tweet, a clip of Hill talking with former NFL quarterback and current analyst Robert Griffin III on the latest episode of RG3 and the Ones went viral for his remarks regarding Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Hill says that the reason he moved on to the Dolphins was that Mahomes would invite Travis Kelce to his house, but he wouldn’t get the invite as well.

“I was hurt. Patrick, you ain’t never invited me over to your house like you did Kelce, that’s why we here where we at now,” Hill said. “I’ve never been anybody’s side chick before. I go to KC, now I’m the side chick.”

Hill was just joking around, as he is very much still friends with all parties involved. It’s just another case of Hill using his platform and showing off the sense of humor he has — even if it’s at the expense of his former teammates.

Does Dak Prescott Have a Child? Cowboys QB Made Surprise Baby Announcement

Published

By

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos, have kept their relationship relatively quiet over the last few months. However, the pair has recently made a surprise announcement.

Prescott is having one of his best seasons on the field, but his life is about to change dramatically following Ramos’ special announcement on Instagram.

Dak Prescott’s Baby Announcement

On Nov. 26, Prescott and Ramos announced that they are expecting their first child. Sharing the news, the pair said that they are expecting a baby girl.

The announcement was revealed on Ramos’ Instagram feed, where she posted the surprise reveal, captioning, “A little bit of Heaven sent down to Earth. Our immeasurable blessing. I cannot wait to raise a strong, confident, beautiful baby girl with you.”

Commenting on the picture, Dak replied, “How thankful I am to do this with you can’t be explained! God makes no mistakes and nothing is coincidental and for that, I thank Him Daily! I love you, and y’all can always count on me. Let’s do this Mama.”

Prescott also shared Ramos’s reveal as an Instagram Story, adding the words “Beyond Blessed!” and “Girl Dad Incoming.”

Speaking on Monday, Prescott said “dad strength” was the reason for his recent form. “God’s timing. Blessed, super blessed to have that responsibility, but at the same time to have the opportunity to start a family and bring a child into this world. I’m blessed.”

The pair are expecting a baby girl, and Prescott is pleased, sharing, “I actually wanted a girl. Part of it, I think, was to not get excited for a boy, but I did want a girl.”

How Long Have Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos Been Together?

We don’t know the exact timeline for how long Prescott and Ramos have been in a relationship, but a string of Instagram posts date back to September 2023. There are hints, however, that the relationship may stretch back further.

In August, Prescott told WFAA, “My relationship status? It is pending.”

In a September story, Ramos shared a photo of her in AT&T Stadium with the caption “#4.” While it’s not the most obvious relationship reveal, it certainly seems like one.

On Nov. 17, Ramos shared numerous photos to celebrate her 30th birthday. In those photos was one of her in AT&T Stadium, and another was her sitting next to Prescott with a piece of cake.

The caption read, “Entering a new decade with so much gratitude. Blessed and thankful for my family and friends that celebrated with me in my new home. I truly have everything I could wish for and have a feeling this next chapter will be the best one yet.”

Prescott was quick to reply, commenting, “Much to Love in this post! Welcome to 30 club my love.”
