Fall Report

The BYU athletic department is in year one of its new home in the Big 12. The Cougars already have one conference title as proof of concept. The BYU women’s cross-country team captured the conference championship this fall. The women’s soccer program nearly did the same, finishing in second place by just two points.

BYU takes great pride in athletics. So even though the Big 12 feels like a sizable leap in class (from the WCC), it would be unwise to assume that the collective Cougs will be overmatched here. That said, the challenge ahead for the major sports of[…]

Oklahoma State players mob Lane Forsythe after Saturday’s walk-off squeeze (Eddie Kelly/ProLook Photos)

At The Ballpark

ARLINGTON, Texas — After Arkansas and Oregon State gave us an instant classic on Friday night at Globe Life Field, Saturday’s action seemed destined to be a letdown. But it was not. Not even close.

At The Ballpark

ROUND ROCK, Texas — College baseball is always full of surprises, and Washington State could be one of those teams that surpasses expectations in Nathan Choate’s first season.

The Cougars finished last season just shy of 30 wins. And after having another decent season, former head coach Brian Green bolted to join forces with Wichita State. Insert Choate, who not only inherited a program without a home after the collapse of the Pac-12 Conference, but who also inherited a team picked to finish dead last in the Pac-12.

Doesn’t seem like the car you really want the keys to, right?
