NFL Fans React to Blatant Pass Interference That Helped Colts Upset Ravens

After rallying to force overtime with a field goal late in regulation, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Baltimore Ravens 22-19 on a game-winning field goal. How they got into position for the score, however, stirred some controversy.
Colts-Ravens Missed Pass Interference Penalty
After a pair of punts and a Colts turnover on downs, Baltimore got the ball back at its own 46 with a chance to drive down the field for a game-winning score.

The Ravens faced 4th-and-3 from the Indianapolis 47, and Lamar Jackson looked to Zay Flowers for a pass near the line to gain, but Flowers was pulled down by E.J. Speed as he stretched out to try and make the catch.

If pass interference had been called, the Ravens (2-1) would have been awarded an automatic first down and had possession within kicker Justin Tucker’s range for a game-winning field goal attempt. Instead, the Colts (2-1) got possession and converted one first down before Matt Gay made a 53-yard field goal to win it.
Baltimore also had a chance to win in the final seconds of regulation, but Tucker missed short on a 61-yard field goal try.
Fans React To No-Call
Ravens fans and pundits alike took to Twitter to voice their frustrations about the lack of a penalty on the crucial play.
The Ravens lost because the refs either had money on the game or they just decided they wanted the colts to win. That was some of the most horrid officiating I’ve seen.

The ravens went for it on 4th and 3 and the colts had a pass interference that wasn’t called that the announcers said it should have been called which would’ve put them in field goal range and would’ve won the game instead they didn’t call it and the ravens lost the game @NFL

Wow. Don’t have any love or hate for the Colts or Ravens, but the refs just screwed the Ravens on that clear case of defensive pass interference. Didn’t watch the rest of the game, but a hook causing change of direction on a player before the ball gets there is clearly DPI.

Four Things We Learned in Week 12

The Miami Dolphins thoroughly dominated the New York Jets, 34-13, in the NFL‘s first Black Friday game to improve to 8-3 and extend their lead in the AFC East. But the victory might have been pyrrhic.
Star pass rusher Jaelan Phillips suffered what appears to be a significant Achilles injury well after the game was out of reach. That was a considerable loss to a defense that has been playing at a very high level the last month.
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets Instant Observations
Jets’ Hell Mary
Eleven years and two days after the Butt Fumble, the Jets served up a play that caused just as much Thanksgiving indigestion for their fans.
Tim Boyle will go down in history as the Jets quarterback who not only threw a pick-six on a Hail Mary, but he’ll be in the highlight (or lowlight, depending on your rooting interest) twice.
#Dolphins S Jevon Holland makes up for Tua’s 2nd INT by intercepting a Hail Mary and returning it 99 yards for a TD 🤯

That’s because Dolphins safety Jevon Holland shook him out of his cleats on the return. Boyle was the last line of defense, but he was defenseless to stop the Dolphins’ gifted young safety, who scored his first career touchdown Friday.
Boyle, named the starter this week after the Jets benched Zach Wilson, finished the game 27 of 38 for 179 yards and with a passer rating of 67.8.
As a team, the Jets managed a meager 159 yards of offense.
As for Holland, he left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury.
Dolphins’ Dynamic Duo
All that talk about the Jets’ fantastic secondary? Pffft.
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle abused Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, et al., for 114 and 102 yards, respectively.

And they did it at less than 100% health. Hill tweaked his ankle or foot on his first catch of the game, while Waddle — who has been banged up all season — came up a bit gimpy after one of his eight catches.
If the Dolphins can eliminate the turnovers (Tua Tagovailoa threw two more interceptions Friday, including one returned for a touchdown), they will be really, really dangerous down the stretch.
Coming Up a Yard Short
Our unsolicited advice on how to fix the Dolphins’ short-yardage woes apparently went unheeded.
The Dolphins’ struggles on 3rd- and 4th-and-short carried over until Week 12 — and cost them at least three points in the first quarter.
Hill dropped a touchdown on 4th-and-1 inside the Jets’ five-yard line and then Mike McDaniel got a little too cute on third-and-1 inside the Jets’ 30, resulting in a disappointing field goal.
The Dolphins are too good to be leaving this many points on the field. Why don’t they simply line up and run the football? Jeff Wilson proved that he is a very hard player to tackle.
Pay That Man
Fifth-year defensive tackle Christian Wilkins is sizzling. The Dolphins’ defensive tackle had two more sacks Friday, giving him a career-high 6.5 with six games left to play.
Wilkins will need to do a lot more of that in the weeks to come if Phillips is indeed out for the season, which is the expectation.
Wilkins, who is in a contract year, turned down an extension before the season and bet on himself. That decision looks better and better by the week. All but one of his sacks have come in the Dolphins’ last seven games.

Marquise Brown, Zay Flowers, and Odell Beckham Jr. Impacting Week 12 Rankings

There are some speedsters and fantasy football stalwarts out there who have been battling injuries lately. As Sunday of Week 12 creeps up on us, what is the latest on Marquise Brown, Zay Flowers, and Odell Beckham Jr.?
WR Injury Updates
Marquise Brown, Arizona Cardinals
Brown has had an up-and-down season so far for the Arizona Cardinals. He has four games where he was the WR23 or better. However, Brown also has five games where he was the WR47 or worse. Now Brown is dealing with a heel injury.
Brown did not practice on Friday, and he is listed as questioned for Sunday’s NFC West battle against the Los Angeles Rams. The WR room in Arizona is beat up, and rookie Michael Wilson has already been ruled out. Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Brown’s absence was “precautionary.”
Brown is the WR29 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings, and if he misses this week, Greg Dortch could see an uptick in targets.
Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens
Fantasy managers have been waiting for that big rookie breakout from Flowers, but it has yet to come. He is currently WR38 on the season, with his best finish in Week 6 as WR15, but now he might be battling a hip issue.

Flowers missed practice on Thursday, but he did return on Friday as a full participant and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. When asked about his ailment, Flowers responded on Friday, “I feel good. I’m ready to go; I feel great.”
He was asked if he was going to play against the Chargers, and Flowers responded, “That wasn’t even a question. I had to take a little break really quick. Now, I’m back.” If Flowers suffers a setback, Odell Beckham Jr. would see more targets as long as he is active.
Odell Beckham Jr., Baltimore Ravens
Beckham has been coming on strong lately, ranking as the WR21 over the last three weeks. However, he is currently dealing with a shoulder issue and has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Beckham finished the week with a full practice, so fantasy managers are optimistic, but Beckham came out on his own later, giving a personal update on his status. “It’s a game-time decision; I’m trying my best to get into the game, each and every way … I won’t say that it will be pain-free, but I’ll definitely find a way to do what I can for the people in this locker room, this team, find a way to help us steal another win.”

Will the Jets Fire Robert Saleh? Is Jets HC on the Hot Seat After Black Friday Loss

It has been tough sledding for the New York Jets offense. Despite head coach Robert Saleh and Co. opting to bench Zach Wilson in favor of Tim Boyle, the results weren’t all that different on Friday night against the division-rival Miami Dolphins. The Jets never led and, as a result, suffered their fourth loss in a row and their seventh loss of the season, 34-13.
With the Jets now 4-7 — and seemingly having no answers on offense to help their supremely talented defense tonight, or any night for that matter — what is left for them to do other than just hope and wait for Aaron Rodgers to be able to come back and save the season? With so much frustration and unanswered questions surrounding the team, is Saleh’s job on the hot seat? Let’s take a closer look.
Will the New York Jets Fire Robert Saleh?
With the season seemingly going nowhere fast right now, it is hard to not think that all ideas are on the table — including a change at the top. While everyone knows it has been a challenge not having Rodgers like they had hoped they would, the lack of preparation at the backup position may make some wonder if Saleh’s seat is now hot as a result.
MORE: Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets Observations
What this team’s best looks like is unknown right now. This is a team that is loaded on defense and spent a considerable amount of effort and money trying to add talent on the offensive side of the ball to surround Rodgers. However, when the QB went down in Week 1, so did the hopes of the season in many people’s eyes.
Is that just bad luck, or is it bad preparation by Saleh and crew? It’s a fair question and one that the Jets decision-makers may be asking themselves as they stew on another tough loss as they watch their push for the playoffs continue to slip away from them.
Saleh’s Statements Following the Loss
Following the game, Saleh was asked about his job security and stated, “I’m not worried about it.
Saleh was also asked about one of those new additions to the team that was supposed to help this offense: Allen Lazard. Lazard was inactive for Friday’s game, and it wasn’t due to injury; it was due to performance.
When asked directly about Lazard and his being inactive, Saleh stated it simply: “My decision.”
In addition to not being worried about his job security, Saleh also mentioned that he was not making a change at play-caller either, meaning current offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s job is safe for now. When asked more directly why the Jets when considering the offensive struggles wouldn’t at least consider a change, Saleh didn’t feel like right now was the time to elaborate.
“That would be a really long answer, an answer for another day.”
While it was not an easy day for anyone involved, things do not look like they are going to get any easier for the Jets as they hope to scrap and claw their way back into playoff contention.
