The Oldest UFC Champion
Glover Teixeira had a long and inspiring road to becoming the oldest first-time UFC champion.
He had 19 professional MMA fights, across multiple promotions, before debuting in the UFC in 2012 at 32 years old, and submitting his opponent in round 1.
The Brazilian took this long to get in the UFC due to a host of visa and personal issues,
But upon his arrival, he racked up a 5 fight win streak, including wins over Rampage Jackson and Ryan Bader.
That got him his first title shot in 2014 against Jon Bones Jones, but unfortunately, Glover lost the decision.
It would be 7 years before Glover entered the title picture, winning and losing along the way, defeating names like Ovince Saint Preux, Rashad Evans, Ion Cutelaba, Anthony Smith, and Thiago Santos.
Then in 2021, Glover Teixeira faced Jan Blachowicz for the lightheavyweight championship, where in round 2, Glover bypassed the Polish Power with a rear naked choke to finish Jan and at 42 years old become
