Who Are the Best RBs To Draft in 2023 Redraft Leagues?
Despite everyone saying running backs don’t matter, they, in fact, do matter quite a bit for fantasy. While they are just one component of a roster, nailing the running back selections for your team will place you in a much better position than those who fade the position and roll the dice with mid-RB3s who might have some upside but lack a consistent floor or ceiling.
You likely don’t need to tell you that drafting Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, or even Bijan Robinson is a good idea. But I would say to be aggressive with Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs.
MORE: Fantasy Football Apps
He landed in an ideal spot and fills the role left by D’Andre Swift, and while Swift did disappoint overall, he was third in points per opportunity with a 70-target season despite Jamaal Williams breaking Barry Sanders’ rushing TD record with 17.
David Montgomery isn’t going to do that. Gibbs is not just a better prospect than Swift but is the best receiving back we have seen since the 2017 class and has a top-six upside if things break right.
At 214 pounds with sub-4.5 speed and receiving versatility, Buccaneers RB Rachaad White has lead-back upside, and we saw this start last season.
In Weeks 10-17, White averaged 15 touches and over 70 yards per game, which would be a 17-game pace of over 1,200 yards on 275 touches, with over 70 coming in the passing game while playing on 49% of the snaps. If he even sniffs that volume level, White could close in on high-end RB2 status in 2023.
Bank on a bounceback from Najee Harris in 2023 as well. Between Weeks 1-8, Harris was the RB23 and 29th in points per game at 10.9 (PPR). But we also have to remember that Harris was dealing with a Lisfranc injury he sustained during training camp.
Yet, Harris finished the season much stronger, and it seemed to go a bit under the radar. From Weeks 10-17, Harris was the RB8 overall and ninth in points per game with 15.3 (PPR). He was tied for second in rushing attempts (141) and averaged 20.6 opportunities.
Add in Week 18, and Harris averaged 20 opportunities, 87.8 rushing yards, and 0.8 touchdowns per game. He also sat 14th in routes run while recording 20+ carries in five of his last eight games.
As for mid-round value or later picks to target in fantasy football RB rankings, keep an eye on James Conner, Alexander Mattison, Zach Charbonnet, Devon Achane, Roschon Johnson, Jaylen Warren, Samaje Perine, Tank Bigsby, and Pierre Strong Jr.

The Top WRs To Start in Week 4
Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
It appeared to me as though Keenan Allen was racking up the catches during Week 3, but it was jaw-dropping to see his final stat line when it was all said and done. The veteran WR reeled in 18 of 20 targets for 215 yards and a passing touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings.
A full list of every player in NFL history to have 3 games with at least 15 catches:
Keenan Allen pic.twitter.com/ClKTC4dXUR
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 24, 2023
We still have to be at least concerned about durability for Allen over the course of the entire 2023 NFL season, but until — or if — that happens, he absolutely has to be in your starting lineup.
Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts
We’re now through three games of the 2023 NFL season and Michael Pittman Jr. has yet to see less than 11 targets in any contest. This is also with two different QBs!

There are few players in the NFL right now that are seeing this type of guaranteed volume. Pittman deserves to be in your starting lineup now until further notice.

Should I Pick up the Green Bay Packers TE This Week?

The Green Bay Packers have been a bit of an offensive surprise thus far in 2023. Despite missing 2022 breakout receiver Christian Watson, they’ve been top eight in points thus far. With Aaron Rodgers gone, the young team has been a revelation, and one player that’s been solid so far is TE Luke Musgrave.
Tight end scoring in fantasy football continues to be just the elite players and everyone else. Despite being a rookie, Musgrave is already showing real potential. Is Musgrave a worthwhile waiver addition or better left to someone else?
Looking to make a trade in your fantasy league? Having trouble deciding who to start and who to sit? Check out PFN’s Free Fantasy Football Trade Analyzer and Start/Sit Optimizer to help you make the right decision!
Should Luke Musgrave Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 3?
Currently the TE12 on the season in half-PPR, Musgrave is off to a fantastic start. Week 3 may have kicked off a stretch of quality production. After three and two catches, respectively, in the first couple of weeks, Musgrave caught six of eight targets in Week 3. He put up 49 yards, falling a yard short of his 50-yard Week 1 output.
MORE: Fantasy News Tracker
Musgrave has been running high-value routes. While not a huge red-zone factor, Musgrave has been utilized downfield repeatedly. He currently leads all tight ends in average depth of target (aDOT) at 13.7 and sits fourth in air yards (96). He’s been a big part of the Packers’ offense and should continue growing into a better option.
The biggest concern with Musgrave is what’s been missing in Green Bay. The presumed top option, Watson, has yet to suit up for the Packers, and that leaves it challenging to project what could happen to Musgrave’s role in the future. On a short week and missing practice Monday, Watson seems likely to also miss Week 4.
The timing of that makes Musgrave, at the very least, a strong streaming option. The Packers play the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, and that is great news for Musgrave.
Any guesses where the Lions rank in fantasy points allowed to the TE position? Anyone who said the second-most points would be correct!
The Lions have also allowed the most targets (35), receptions (24), and yards (253). The only reason they’re not last is that they’ve managed to allow a single touchdown, while teams at 32 and 30 allowed three each.
That means Musgrave should have a stable floor with a solid ceiling in Week 4 for anyone needing a tight end this week.
At the end of the day, Musgrave is worth an add for most leagues, especially deeper ones. The elite TEs are not worth benching, but for many, he’s likely to perform better than an underperforming starter.
Musgrave already has two top-12 TE finishes, and this week will likely result in a third. Add him this week and fire him up as a starter you can be confident in. You very well could have a starting option at a barren position for the rest of 2023.

Week 4 of the 2023 college football season was a big one on the 2024 NFL Draft circuit. There were six battles between ranked opponents — and that doesn’t even include games like Florida State vs. Clemson and the LSU Tigers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks.
All across the nation, the Week 4 schedule pitted formidable foes against one another. Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes faced off against the Oregon Ducks. Meanwhile, the Ohio State Buckeyes took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in prime time.
The Iowa Hawkeyes fought with Big Ten opponent, the Penn State Nittany Lions. And the Washington State Cougars battled the Oregon State Beavers for Pac-12 supremacy — and so much more.
Hidden in this slate were countless 2024 NFL Draft storylines. How did Ward do against DJ Uiagalelei and the Oregon State Beavers? How did Sanders fare against the Ducks’ rush? How many prospects stood out for the Alabama Crimson Tide against the Ole Miss Rebels? And did Michael Penix Jr.‘s immaculate passing streak continue?
