Is Kevin Byard Facing a Future Move From the Titans?

Kevin Byard has earned two Pro Bowls and helped propel the Tennessee Titans to multiple playoff appearances, establishing himself as one of the league’s best safeties in the process. But is the eight-year veteran suddenly facing a shaky future in Nashville?
Titans’ Decision, Plus Kevin Byard’s No-Show, Fuels Speculation on Future
Byard hasn’t been with the Titans for organized team activities (OTAs) during the week of May 22. Head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed Byard has been absent from this period.
While veterans like Byard have the option to skip the voluntary workouts, there’s still fuel to speculate the safety and the Titans could be heading toward separation.
Back on March 17, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Titans approached the safety about taking a pay cut.
“But the Pro Bowl safety does not believe his play warrants a decrease in salary,” Schefter added.
Titans general manager Ran Carthon later confirmed with Nashville reporters on April 24, before the NFL Draft, that the team asked Byard to take a pay cut. But again, Byard is yet to accept the Titans’ terms. He is set to earn $13.6 million for 2023 and for 2024. He doesn’t become a free agent until 2025, when his five-year, $70.5 million deal runs out.
While Byard is a no-show, Vrabel said Tuesday that he has stayed in contact with the defender.
“Saw him at the golf course Sunday. He looks great,” Vrabel said. “And we had a great conversation.”
MORE: Where Do the Titans Rank Among NFL Defenses?
Was it the kind of conversation where Vrabel believes Byard will eventually rejoin the Titans?
“I expect him to be here at OTAs,” Vrabel said. “I would expect him at some point.”
However, the Titans have gone from the rumblings surrounding a possible trade involving star running back Derrick Henry to now dealing with Byard’s situation — the latter pertaining to a pillar of their defense and one who even has the respect of, arguably, the league’s best safety.
Derwin James: Byard Is Biggest Threat to Title of Best Safety
Speaking with actor/comedian Kevin Hart on “Cold as Balls” on the LOL Network, Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl safety Derwin James — ranked as PFN’s No. 1 safety ahead of the 2023 season — cited two defenders in the league who can make the ground shift at any time and are the biggest threats at safety.
“Budda Baker, that’s a dog,” James said, followed by, “I’d say Kevin Byard.”
MORE: Tennessee Titans 2023 Schedule
James has earned three Pro Bowls since his arrival to the league out of Florida State in 2018. Baker has the most appearances among the trio with five, including four consecutive trips to the NFL’s all-star contest.
Byard, though, has 20 more career interceptions in comparison to James and Baker, as both have seven for their careers.
Unlike Baker and Byard, James never faced questions about his future with his franchise during the 2023 offseason. And as Baker became a subject of trade rumblings, there were analysts who shared the thought of the Cardinals and Titans making a swap between the two safeties.
Both remain on their respective teams. But for Byard, his absence and pay-cut chatter are generating new thoughts of a change in Nashville.
Releasing Byard can save the Titans $14.1 million in cap room if he’s a post-June 1 move. A trade, especially if done by the November deadline, could potentially add extra future draft options as the Titans are set at just five picks for 2024. With Byard absent, the Titans have a new star situation to address with minicamp and training camp on deck.

Best IDP Players To Start in Week 13
C.J. Mosley, LB, New York Jets
C.J. Mosley is the absolute definition of consistency among LBs. In his 11 games this year, he’s failed to hit nine or more tackles just twice. In four of his last five games off the bye, he’s been over 11 tackles.
MORE: Fantasy News Tracker
This week, the Jets get the run-centric Falcons and a fantastic opportunity for Mosley to rack up tackles. Lock him into lineups with supreme confidence.
Antoine Winfield Jr., S, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Despite not playing an ideal role for an IDP safety, Antoine Winfield Jr. continues to produce. His last two weeks have seen Winfield post a whopping 26 total tackles. As always, he’s got upside to turn the ball over, too, and the Panthers have been prone to that. With a high floor and a high ceiling, Winfield is an absolute must-start for managers this week.

Tyreek Hill Goes Viral for Tua Tagovailoa Love, Surprising Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Take

Not only is Tyreek Hill one of the most dynamic and explosive players in the NFL, but those adjectives can be used to describe his personality as well.
Hill is unafraid to take to social media or a microphone to voice his opinion and to get off a few jokes at the expense of his former team. That is exactly what he did on Thursday morning as Hill went viral for his defense of his current Miami Dolphins quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, and for a lack of invites from his former quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Tyreek Hill Defends Tua Tagovailoa
Bright and early Thursday morning, as he was watching television, assumedly getting ready for his day to start, Hill took to social media to defend his quarterback. While watching an episode of ESPN’s Get Up, Hill took offense to the way they were talking about Miami’s QB.
“I’m currently watching this guy’s talk on Get Up, Tua may be the most underrated QB in the league and it’s sad.”
MORE: NFL World Reacts to Tyreek Hill’s Surprising Comparison Between the Dolphins and Chiefs
Hill has been extremely supportive of Tua since he arrived in South Beach, and with Hill’s help, Tagovailoa is squarely in the MVP mix right now.
Despite that, Hill did not like the way the cast was talking about Tua and his play. Thus, he took to his social media account to make sure that anybody else watching knew where he stood on the matter.
‘I Was Hurt’ – Hill Jokes About Not Getting Same Treatment as Travis Kelce
Defending Tua wasn’t the only reason why Hill was going viral Thursday morning. Not much long after his Get Up tweet, a clip of Hill talking with former NFL quarterback and current analyst Robert Griffin III on the latest episode of RG3 and the Ones went viral for his remarks regarding Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Hill says that the reason he moved on to the Dolphins was that Mahomes would invite Travis Kelce to his house, but he wouldn’t get the invite as well.
“I was hurt. Patrick, you ain’t never invited me over to your house like you did Kelce, that’s why we here where we at now,” Hill said. “I’ve never been anybody’s side chick before. I go to KC, now I’m the side chick.”
Hill was just joking around, as he is very much still friends with all parties involved. It’s just another case of Hill using his platform and showing off the sense of humor he has — even if it’s at the expense of his former teammates.

Does Dak Prescott Have a Child? Cowboys QB Made Surprise Baby Announcement

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos, have kept their relationship relatively quiet over the last few months. However, the pair has recently made a surprise announcement.
Prescott is having one of his best seasons on the field, but his life is about to change dramatically following Ramos’ special announcement on Instagram.
Dak Prescott’s Baby Announcement
On Nov. 26, Prescott and Ramos announced that they are expecting their first child. Sharing the news, the pair said that they are expecting a baby girl.
The announcement was revealed on Ramos’ Instagram feed, where she posted the surprise reveal, captioning, “A little bit of Heaven sent down to Earth. Our immeasurable blessing. I cannot wait to raise a strong, confident, beautiful baby girl with you.”
Commenting on the picture, Dak replied, “How thankful I am to do this with you can’t be explained! God makes no mistakes and nothing is coincidental and for that, I thank Him Daily! I love you, and y’all can always count on me. Let’s do this Mama.”
Prescott also shared Ramos’s reveal as an Instagram Story, adding the words “Beyond Blessed!” and “Girl Dad Incoming.”

Speaking on Monday, Prescott said “dad strength” was the reason for his recent form. “God’s timing. Blessed, super blessed to have that responsibility, but at the same time to have the opportunity to start a family and bring a child into this world. I’m blessed.”
The pair are expecting a baby girl, and Prescott is pleased, sharing, “I actually wanted a girl. Part of it, I think, was to not get excited for a boy, but I did want a girl.”
How Long Have Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos Been Together?
We don’t know the exact timeline for how long Prescott and Ramos have been in a relationship, but a string of Instagram posts date back to September 2023. There are hints, however, that the relationship may stretch back further.
In August, Prescott told WFAA, “My relationship status? It is pending.”
In a September story, Ramos shared a photo of her in AT&T Stadium with the caption “#4.” While it’s not the most obvious relationship reveal, it certainly seems like one.
On Nov. 17, Ramos shared numerous photos to celebrate her 30th birthday. In those photos was one of her in AT&T Stadium, and another was her sitting next to Prescott with a piece of cake.
The caption read, “Entering a new decade with so much gratitude. Blessed and thankful for my family and friends that celebrated with me in my new home. I truly have everything I could wish for and have a feeling this next chapter will be the best one yet.”
Prescott was quick to reply, commenting, “Much to Love in this post! Welcome to 30 club my love.”
