Weekend 4 Recap – The Schoch Factor • D1Baseball

The Schoch Factor

Stephen Schoch (@bigdonkey47), Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman (@CespedesBBQ) join to discuss what caught their attention in D-I baseball over the past week, and begin with an honest conversation about the sky-high home run totals and exit velocities we’ve been seeing and try to put the numbers in perspective without being too much of a bummer.

Next, they highlight which teams stood out over the past week, focusing on Boston College’s road series win at Virginia Tech and Virginia staying undefeated longer than anyone else, among others. They then check in on the winless teams still remaining and discuss what it’s like to have a coach fired midseason.

After the break, they review the shocking umpire situation in the New Orleans/Mississippi Valley game, salute Siena head coach Tony Rossi as he retires after 54 years (!!!) at the helm, and talk tarp.

Finally, they shout out some individual performances, from Chase Mora to Wyatt Hudepohl to Daniel Bagwell to Zach Morea and more.

Either way, Washington head coach Jason Kelly accepts the way Sundays go in our sport, especially when his Huskies can take to an 11-10 series clinching win on the road against the 7th-ranked team in the country.

“That’s the way Sunday is,” Kelly said afterward. “You can throw[…]
