Felton Spencer was one of the sweetest, kindest, people I’ve ever known. Grew up in KY together & have known each other since age 15. Played on the last Kentucky all-star team to sweep Indiana together. Played against one another in college & the pros. A sad day.

Twelve-year pro-Felton Spencer passed away at 55
Spencer spent his college career at the University of Louisville from 1986-1990. He helped lead his team to three straight Metro Conference tournament wins and two Sweet 16 appearances in that time as well. His best season with the Cardinals was his senior year when he averaged (14.9) points and (8.5) rebounds per game.
He shot (.628) from the field for his entire career and that still stands as a program record for Louisville. Spencer was the sixth overall pick in the 1990 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and spent his first three seasons with them. He was also named to the all-rookie team in his first year.
His sister Tammy Pollock took to social media to inform the world of her brother’s passing. She wrote this on Twitter.
“It was befitting that he received excellent care in his final hours from the providers at the University of Louisville Hospital, his Alma mater that he loved so dearly.”… “We are proud of all he did on the court and in his personal life. He was a kind, gentle giant whose physical presence will be sorely missed. While we are heartbroken, we are comforted by your thoughts and prayers” – Tammy Pollock

4-Star Robert Miller to Longhorns?

When it comes to up-and-coming basketball talent, Robert Miller III is a name that cannot be ignored. This 6-foot-9, 225-pound power forward out of Pasadena Memorial High School in Houston, Texas, is making waves as a consensus top-100 overall recruit. Currently ranked as the fifth-best recruit in the Lone Star State, Miller has a storied athletic lineage that sets the stage for a promising future. And that future seems to lie with the Texas Longhorns.
Good Genes Heading to Texas
Born into a family of sports superstars, Miller boasts an impressive athletic pedigree. His father, Rob Miller II, was a standout football player at Louisiana State University. Meanwhile, his mother made her mark on the hardwood, playing basketball at Tulane before turning pro in the WNBA.
Now, it seems that the younger Miller is on the cusp of continuing this legacy. The Texas Longhorns’ college basketball program is eagerly awaiting his commitment in the coming months.
In recent conversations, Miller shared his thoughts on the Longhorns:
“They’re just talking about how they really want me to be a part of the Texas basketball team, saying it’s a really good fit, and just keeping it real with me.” And that’s a really big thing for Miller, who once said the biggest thing he’s looking for are open and transparent coaches.
Miller has seen firsthand the camaraderie and success that permeate the Longhorns’ program.

“They are getting me involved in pretty much everything. They are showing me the ropes and showing me how everything is. I saw what the family feel is like down there. They are playing together, and they are really successful. The new arena is pretty nice,” he added.
Miller and 5-Star Holland to Team Up
Texas has been relentless in their pursuit of Miller, a testament to how highly they value his talent. The young athlete has acknowledged that the Longhorns have been recruiting him the hardest. And it’s no wonder – the potential addition of Miller to the roster could elevate the team to new heights.
Another influential factor in Miller’s decision may be the opportunity to play alongside five-star prospect Ron Holland. The Texas native has already committed to the Longhorns, and is a major factor in Miller’s recruiting. The duo visited the campus together for the Kansas game at the beginning of March. That trip that seems to have convinced Miller that Texas is where his future lies.
Miller’s potential on the court is undeniable. A versatile player with a high ceiling, he has the skills and athleticism to become a force to be reckoned with in college basketball. His combination of size, strength, and agility make him a valuable asset to any team, and the Longhorns are no exception.

Newly Hired Rick Pitino Gets Right to Work for St. John’s

This week, the Red Storm got their man that many hope will return the storied program and once Big East powerhouse back to the ranks of the true bluebloods in college hoops. Pitino was hired by St. John’s after his Iona Gaels were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.
Pitino listed a multitude of reasons as to why he was drawn to St. John’s, but the two biggest were the storied history of the program and the fact that he doesn’t have to move. The St John’s campus adds about 20 minutes to his old commute to the Iona campus.
Getting Right To Work
Fresh off his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Pitino and his staff wasted no time on building up the St. John’s roster as they held many players meetings and hit the recruiting trail. On Wednesday afternoon, the newly appointed head coach of St. John’s paid a visit to Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains to scout two promising guards, Boogie Fland, and Danny Carbuccia. Fland, a five-star guard and the second-ranked player in New York for the class of 2024 caught the attention of the coaching staff.
With Pitino and assistant coach Steve Masiello in attendance, the duo observed Fland’s skills during practice and expressed interest in recruiting the talented junior. Fland’s father revealed that high-major programs such as Kentucky, Alabama, Seton Hall, Michigan, Kansas State, and Virginia Tech have also been pursuing the dynamic guard from The Bronx.
“Just the fact that Rick Pitino after one day of having his press conference, to go out there and visit him, it just shows he really wants Boogie,” said John Fland. “It shows his mindset. And Boogie is one of his priorities at the moment.” – John Fland, Father of Boogie Fland
Roster Plans Are Taking Shape
During his press conference on Tuesday, Coach Pitino revealed that he plans to add six to eight new players to the St. John’s roster for the upcoming season, implying that several current players will not be returning. The new coaching staff is currently evaluating the holdovers and will begin meeting with them at the end of the week. In addition, the team has already expressed interest in pursuing transfers such as MAAC Player of the Year Walter Clayton Jr. from Iona and Brooklyn native Chris Ledlum, a talented forward from Harvard.
Furthermore, Pitino has extended scholarship offers to some of the nation’s top recruits, including junior Carter Bryant, who is ranked fourth nationally by 247Sports and was previously considering Louisville and Arizona. The coaching staff is also targeting highly regarded four-star junior Ahmad Nowell and top-100 prospect Garwey Dual, who recently de-committed from Providence after Coach Ed Cooley left for Georgetown.
While signed four-star recruit Brandon Gardner and junior college All-American Yaxel Lendeborg have expressed their commitment to St. John’s, they plan to meet with Pitino before making a final decision. The coaching staff has not yet announced whether these players will be included in their plans for the upcoming season.

Texas Basketball Must Give Rodney Terry A Contract

After taking over an impossible situation, Texas basketball coach Rodney Terry has the Longhorns just two wins away from the Final Four. Kevin Durant, a former Longhorns player, believes the program is in an “amazing” place with Terry at the helm and believes the interim head coach should be rewarded with a long-term deal.
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant believes Texas Longhorns interim basketball coach Rodney Terry deserves a full-time contract.
In a recent interview, Durant, who played his lone collegiate season at Texas, had high praise for the Longhorns’ interim coach.
“[Terry] has led this team on and off the court as well as anyone could have expected,” Durant told Boardroom. “To see them in the Sweet 16 with as good a shot to win the National Championship as anyone is a testament to the amazing job he’s done. The program is in an amazing place”
Rodney Terry’s Sweet 16 Run Deserves A Long-Term Contract
Terry steadied the program after second-year head coach Chris Beard was fired for a domestic violence dispute in January.
In his first game, the Longhorns outlasted Rice in overtime, which seemed to be a turning point in their season. From there, Texas won eight of Terry’s first nine games and went on to finish 12-6 in the Big 12.
When it came to earning a March Madness bid, the Longhorns left no doubts, earning a 20-point blowout win over conference-rival Kansas in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game.
Like many others across the country, Durant believes that Terry has done enough to warrant a long-term contract. And perhaps more important, his players seem to enjoy playing for him as well.

Durant Doubles Down on Comments by Tweeting at Texas Basketball
With Texas set to play in the Sweet 16 on Friday, Durant wants the Longhorns to get a deal done.
Even after voicing his support for Terry in the interview, he didn’t stop there.
Durant took to Twitter to put some added pressure on his alma mater.

For now, it seems that Terry’s deal will have to wait until the season is over.
But by then, the price for his services may have gone up considerably.
