DURHAM, N.C. — With inclement weather on the way Sunday, both ACC opening weekend series in the Triangle were resolved with Saturday doubleheaders. And in both series, the visiting team secured the series win by splitting the twin bills.

I started my day in Chapel Hill, where No. 17 Virginia erased an early 3-0 deficit to beat No. 14 North Carolina 8-4. That win clinched the series and kept Virginia as the nation’s last unbeaten team, but the Tar Heels salvaged the series finale 6-0 later in the day.
