The Most Skilled Fighter can’t catch a break
Petyr “No Mercy” Yan is a former UFC Bantamweight champion, and arguably one of the most technically skilled fighters, but he’s had a rough 2 years.
Petyr Yan entered the UFC in 2018 and finished his opponent in round 1.
Over his next 6 fights he would get 3 finishes and 3 decisions, with victories over names like John Donson, Urijah Faber, and a dominant win over UFC Legend Jose Aldo to win the vacant title.
But Petyr’s championship reign would fall short, as he would suffer a DQ loss in his first title defense to Aljamain Sterling in 2021 after throwing an illegal knee in a fight he was clearly winning.
His very next fight would be against Cory Sandhagen for the interim title, where Petyr cruised to a decision victory and the championship.
