Should you drop Ronald Jones, Mark Ingram, and Bryan Edwards?

Published

on

While fantasy managers mostly stress about their studs not performing as expected or weekly start/sit decisions, it’s important to ensure you have the correct players on the end of your bench. Let’s take a look at the fantasy outlooks of a handful of players on the roster bubble and decide whether you should keep them or drop them from your fantasy football team.

The fantasy outlook for these players is bleak, and you should consider dropping them from your fantasy team.

Elijah Moore, WR, New York Jets

The Jets’ rookie wide receiver was a popular late-round selection in 2021 fantasy football drafts. Unfortunately, the production hasn’t been there, and the fantasy outlook is only getting worse.

Elijah Moore’s snap share has decreased across every game this season. That is not the trajectory you want from a rookie who should be seeing his playing time increase.

Moore has 14.6 fantasy points on the season. Zach Wilson leads the NFL in interceptions, and the Jets can’t score points (they’ve scored 6 in their past two games combined). You can safely banish Moore to the waiver wire in favor of players with more upside.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants

Darius Slayton entered the season as the WR3 on the Giants, so his fantasy outlook was never great to begin with. There was some hope that he could find his way into relevance after at least showing signs his first two weeks with 3-65 and 3-54-1 lines.

Then, heading into Week 3, there were questions about Kenny Golladay’s health and a chance for Slayton to splash. Instead, Slayton caught just 1 pass for 8 yards before exiting due to a strained hamstring. As a result, Slayton is likely going to miss at least a week or two. For those who took a chance on him, you can safely cut bait.

Ronald Jones, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This one shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Ronald Jones’ role with the Bucs was always going to present a challenge for him to be fantasy-relevant.

Leonard Fournette is the clear 1A when it comes to carries. Giovani Bernard is the clear passing-down back; Fournette is the second man up for those snaps. That leaves Jones with just a share of early-down work and no passing-game upside.

Through three weeks, Jones has carry counts of 4, 6, and 5, while catching just a single pass. He’s scored 5.1 fantasy points on the season. In order for his fantasy outlook to improve, Jones would need injuries to both Fournette and Bernard. Even then, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him cede work to Ke’Shawn Vaughn. You can safely drop Jones.

Mark Ingram, RB, Houston Texans

I completely understand why Mark Ingram warranted a pickup after Week 1, but no one should be surprised that it didn’t work out. His Week 1 performance notwithstanding, Ingram remains the same running back that John Harbaugh made a healthy scratch over the second half and playoffs of the 2020 season. Ingram is done.

Since his Week 1 explosion, Ingram has carried the ball 20 times for 62 yards. He played 31% of the snaps in Week 2 and 35% in Week 3. Ingram is a complete non-factor in the passing game, and the Texans are staring down the barrel of negative game scripts for most of the season.

I don’t understand why the Texans signed Ingram. I do understand why you added him to your fantasy roster, but it’s time to let him go.

These players are definitely candidates to drop from your fantasy team, but their outlooks may just be good enough to consider holding for a little longer.

Bryan Edwards, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

It seems like every week Bryan Edwards does just enough to warrant keeping as your final wide receiver. Edwards has yet to be targeted more than 5 times in a single game. But, defenses look to bracket Darren Waller, and Hunter Renfrow’s improved play threatens to force more attention his way.

Despite his low volume, Edwards has managed to hit 80 yards receiving in two of his first three games. He’s made some nice grabs and has an impressive 77% catch rate with no drops. His snap share has also increased in each game this season. Don’t drop Edwards from your fantasy football roster just yet.

Through three weeks, I think we can draw the conclusion that Washington is missing the explosiveness Curtis Samuel brings. With Samuel out, there’s not much for Taylor Heinicke to work with outside of Terry McLaurin and Logan Thomas. And no one would mistake Thomas for explosive.

In Samuel’s stead, it’s been Dyami Brown starting. Sadly, he’s just not it. Brown was a middling prospect with suspect hands/concentration issues. He was almost an every-down player over the first two weeks, but his poor play saw his snap share severely reduced in Week 3.

The writing is on the wall for Samuel to return over the next couple of weeks and reclaim his spot as this team’s WR2. Ron Rivera expects Samuel to return to practice this week, putting him on track to play either this week or next. Once he’s activated, he’s going to be a hot pickup. You’re better off already having him on your roster.

Michael Carter, RB, New York Jets

With just 18.7 fantasy points over his first three games, I can completely understand why you might want to drop Michael Carter from your fantasy football roster. But if you can afford to hang onto him, you might want to consider it.

Carter is still splitting time, but now it’s just Ty Johnson — Tevin Coleman has lost his role. Carter touched the ball 13 times in Week 2 and 11 times in Week 3. The Jets’ offense has been terrible, but they’ve also played the Panthers, Patriots, and Broncos. That’s three tough defenses.

However, the Jets’ next two games are against the Titans and Falcons, a much better outlook for fantasy. You should at least give him a chance to produce in those matchups. If Carter can’t get anything going against those teams, feel free to drop him from your fantasy football team.

Taylor Swift Is Shown Chugging a Beer on the Jumbotron at Super Bowl 58

Global superstar Taylor Swift made it to the big game to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. In the second quarter, it was evident that she was having a good time at the Super Bowl after taking a 12-hour flight from Tokyo the night prior.

Taylor Swift Seen Chugging Beer at Super Bowl

Swift’s attendance has been highly anticipated, as many fans questioned whether she would be able to make it to the big game since she had been in Japan until Saturday for her Eras Tour.

Sure enough, she made it to the Super Bowl and was seen making a grand entrance alongside Blake Lively and Ice Spice.

Swift made it back to the States with plenty of time to make it to Allegiant Stadium to support Kelce. After a leg of her Eras Tour, where she performed several nights in Japan, the singer appeared to let loose.

In a box full of friends, Swift was shown chugging a beer with Ashley Avignone. She was shown on the jumbotron and slammed her cup down after she finished her beer.

There was a mix of cheers and boos as Swift was shown on the big screen, and a long pass to Mecole Hardman was the only highlight of the first half for Swift and her friends. The 49ers led the Chiefs, 10-0, late in the second quarter.

On social media, Swift garnered plenty of support from NFL fans.

If you’re hating on her you can kick rocks man she’s the best,” one user posted on X

“The one thing I learned this season is that she is actually fun,” another said.

“Booing Taylor Swift chugging a beer is so soft. She’s just one of us now and I respect it ,” another posted.

At the time of the beer chugging, Kelce, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, has had one catch for a single yard. It came on the first possession, which ended up being a three-and-out. The Kansas City Chiefs hadn’t done much otherwise.

They did have a deep pass play to Hardman, which put them in the red zone, but Isiah Pacheco fumbled on the very next play — one that Kelce was surprisingly on the sideline for.

Swift and Kelce have garnered much media attention as their romance has taken off throughout this NFL season.

Swift was able to support her boyfriend at many of his games throughout the final stretch of the season, as her Eras Tour was on a break. But starting on Feb. 7, she went back on the road.

What Happened to the 49ers Linebacker?

Published

The San Francisco 49ers sustained a massive blow during the second quarter of Super Bowl 58, as linebacker Dre Greenlaw left the game on a medical cart.

CBS Sports confirmed that the veteran Greenlaw suffered an Achilles tear, ruling him out for the rest of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

What Happened to Dre Greenlaw?

The outside linebacker, who had already been battling past injuries to his hamstrings and calves, left with what appeared to be a leg injury.

And somehow, his left leg looked like it buckled as he tried to trot onto the field with the Niners’ defense.

Greenlaw clutched his left leg in agony before being helped off the field.

CBS Sports sideline reporter Evan Washburn reported that the outside linebacker left with what was ruled as a lower leg injury. He was later determined to sustain an Achilles injury.

Greenlaw was declared out for the rest of the game.

Greenlaw Carted Off in Passenger Seat

Even more noticeable was where Greenlaw sat on the cart.

He ended up leaving not in the back of the medical vehicle but ended up riding shotgun with his leg injury.

One would think that with an injury like an Achilles ailment, medical officials would try to make the player as comfortable as possible before they leave. It wasn’t the case here.

Regardless, Greenlaw was replaced by Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles for the rest of the first half. Greenlaw became the most significant injury of the game.

NFL World Reacts to Epic Super Bowl Intro From CBS

Published

Super Bowl 58 is here and it’s going to be exciting. The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are facing off in the final game of 2023.

CBS is broadcasting the game and the opening was nothing short of amazing. How is the NFL world reacting to the electric Super Bowl-opening video?

Epic CBS Super Bowl Intro Garners Reaction From NFL World

The video, which spanned four minutes and 19 seconds, featured players from both teams talking about the big game and what it means to them. It also featured their families talking about their journeys to this point.

“Amazing intro! Reminds me of my dad! Bravo on the intro!,” one NFL fan said on X (formerly known as Twitter)

Additionally, Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” played in the background, giving it a near-movie feel. “This was incredible.,” another person said on X. “And so, the @49ers and @Chiefs face that final curtain,” CBS Sports said.

The 49ers finished the regular season as the top seed in the NFC with a 12-5 record. After their first-round bye, they defeated both the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions to earn their trip to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl. Both of their victories came in comeback fashion, including an NFC Championship-record 17-point comeback.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, had a more uphill battle. Entering the playoffs as the AFC’s third seed, they finished the regular season with an 11-6 record. In the playoffs, they defeated the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens to punch their ticket.

Super Bowl 58 is a re-match of Super Bowl 54 when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 31-24. The win was the first in Patrick Mahomes career, as he also won Super Bowl MVP. Four years later, the Chiefs have made three more and won another. For the 49ers, this is their first trip back to the big game since.

The game kicked off at 6:30 p.m. ET with the 49ers receiving the opening kick. In addition to being broadcast on CBS, the game is also being streamed on Paramount+.
